110 Academic Year, Ways to Conduct Teaching from the 3rd Week on

Greetings, teachers and students.

We have proceeded with online teaching for the 1st and the 2nd week of this semester according to the M.O.E. Notice. From the 3rd week on, ways to conduct instruction should be determined by a mutual consent of the teachers and students. In accordance with the "Guidelines for the Management of COVID-19 in 110 Academic Year, " the following options are feasible and subject to adjustment depending on the development of the pandemic.

  1. In-person attendance: the number of attendees should match the capacity of classroom size in safe social distance (see explanation in the attachment).
  2. Alternate students in batches for in-person attendance, some for in-person attendance and meanwhile some for virtual instruction at home: the number of attendees should match the capacity of classroom size in safe social distance (see explanation in the attachment).
  3. If the class size is too large, or if alternate in-person attendance is not ideal, the teacher and students must agree to conduct the class online, provided that the online instruction quality and assured with streaming records kept. If the epidemic alert is lowered, physical classes may be resumed. Even if the class is fully online, the instructor may use the equipment in the scheduled classroom during class time or operate at home.
  4. Others: other alternatives under the "Guidelines for the Management of COVID-19 in 110 Academic Year. "

The aforementioned teaching methods are not fixed throughout the whole semester and may be adjusted by the instructor depending on the instructions given by CDC and M.O.E.

Enquiries for Ways of Course Instruction

You can check the course information website (https://course.thu.edu.tw/) without logging in (see either comments column or the individual course description).

Students can also log in to the Student Information System (http://fsis.thu.edu.tw) or the Course Information Website (https://course.thu.edu.tw/) to check the class schedule and status for the current semester, with a mark indicating 9/27 onward.

------------------

Guiding Principles under Anti-pandemic Measures (all items must match):

1. In-person attendance

(1) Maintain a safe social distance (2.25 square meters/person) inside the room and limit the number of participants to 80 (according to the maximum number of participants of an indoor assembly set by the CDC).

(2) Fixed-seats with strict I.D. record (either online roll call or paper sign-in).

(3) Teachers and students should wear masks throughout the class and use hand disinfection spray. No food or drink is allowed during the class.

(4) Classrooms should be well ventilated (doors may be closed if air conditioner is on, but one window should be opened at least 15 cm at each corner of the classroom). Disinfect equipment regularly before and after class.

2. Physical Education, Swimming, and Laboratory/Practicum Courses

(1) Physical Education: Social distance (1 meter outdoors, 1.5 meters indoors) should be maintained, masks should be worn throughout the class, equipment should not be shared and should be cleaned and disinfected before rotation, and the number of students allowed in the sports hall should be limited to 50% of the optimal capacity. The number of people allowed in the gymnasium is limited to 50% of the optimal capacity. Implement strict I.D. record, strengthen disinfection and clean the environment and equipment.

(2) Swim class: control the number of visitors, implement strict I.D. record, measure body temperature, maintain social distance, disinfect the environment and facilities, maintain air circulation, and closely monitor the residual chlorine level. The students should wear a mask throughout the course except when swimming.

(3) Laboratory/Practicum Classes: Students should be divided into fixed groups and avoid sharing equipment and devices; equipment should be disinfected before rotation if there is a need to rotate.

Have a safe and healthy day!
